REC/FLEX
Kingfish Swimming, based in Kingston is excited to announce the continuation of its popular Recreational Program geared towards swimmers looking to stay conditioned and improve their skills, and FLEX which has been added to create a more flexible opportunity for our younger competitive swimmers. After years of serving as a United States Swimming team, Kingfish has continued to expand its program offerings to account for the growing level of interest in swimming on the South Shore. “We have seen a significant increase in the number of kids wanting to improve stroke technique and skill ability, without necessarily wanting to commit to competing on a higher level. This division of our team accommodates more kids in surrounding communities who want to make swimming a part of their lives,” says Kingfish Head Coach Jay Craft.
Craft has coached swimming on the South Shore for more than 20 years, and himself was a 1992 Olympic Trials qualifier and All-American. “We really just want more kids swimming regularly. It’s a sport you can continue throughout your whole life.” The recreational team has 3 levels and is open to kids aged 6-13 of all ability levels and, FLEX is geared towards the 12 and under age group. All are based at the Kingsbury Club in Kingston. Participants are able to swim anywhere from 2-4 times per week depending on level signed up for, with a focus on developing good stroke technique and improving general fitness.
